The 2012 Rhondda Rollercoaster was an overwhelming success. 166 people pre-entered the event and a further 28 entered on the day thus ensuring that there was a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day. The weather certainly played its part, and despite the monsoon conditions that had plagued Wales for most of late April and early May, on the day of the event itself we were blessed with wall to wall sunshine. Entrants commented on the wonderful far reaching views, and it was pleasing to hear LDWA stalwarts extol the virtues of the South Wales valleys, particularly as many had never visited this part of the country before.
Finally, a big thank you to all of the helpers who ensured that the Rhondda Rollercoaster went so very well. The marshals can be justifiably proud of what they achieved. It was clear to see that the entrants loved the event, and the Rhondda Rollercoaster could not operate without the time of the many volunteers.

Just to say a big thank you for a very enjoyable day yesterday on the Rhondda Rollercoaster. A very scenic and testing route just how a good challenge walk should be. Definitely in my diary for next year! And great weather, too after so much rain in recent weeks. Checkpoint food was spot-on and loved the cheese & marmalade sandwiches!!
Thanks again to the South Wales Group for a great event. See you again soon.
Just a quick message of thanks for a fantastic day on Saturday.
From the moment I checked in at Trehaffod community centre in the morning, to the moment when I finally finished in the evening, I have to say how impressed I was with the professionalism of the organisers of this event.
The support and encouragement given from fellow walkers and LDWA members during the journey and at the checkpoints in particular was commendable and greatly appreciated. I can go on to say that with your members kind help I was able to beat my ‘Inner Demons’ and complete the challenge just when circumstances became a tad desperate.
Thank you to everyone involved, especially those at the Ton Pentre checkpoint – St Paul’s Church? – for the food provided ……bleeding ‘ell, what a spread!!
Thanks for a great event
Thanks guys for a great walk on saturday – you planned the weather to perfection!!! Made a good time and saw some cracking scenery.
Thank you to you and your team for a fab walk on saturday. Weather was amazing, even got some sunburn! Was dead chuffed with the times we made, although my feet were sore at the end of it. Have put some pics on FB but not sure how to put them onto your LDWA page?
Just a quick message to say thanks for an absolutely fantastic event. It was absolutely brilliant and would love for you to pass my thanks on to all the volunteers.
